Fun, Action-Packed Story!

Thoughts: This was such a fun book to read, with a wide diversity of great characters and action that never failed to excite me. Although it was a little under my age group (hence the 4 1/2 rating over 5), I still really enjoyed it and would wholeheartedly recommend it to ALL kids 10 and under. It's one of those books you'll never put down until you've finished it. Archie is a kind, adventurous and brave boy that also is very caring towards all alien life, and "earthlings" as well. He's an amazing role model for kids, and tells the story very excitingly through his perspective, with a ton of laugh-out-loud humor, too. Pockets was a great addition to the story as well, because he never ceased to lighten the mood of the story, even in dire situations. He was so much fun to read, too! The ending was satisfying and left anticipated room for another sequel. Overall, a great, "feel-good" yet action-packed story!

Great Book, Typo problems.

Five stars for Ricardo Iznaola and the content he has created here. I'm a huge fan of everything that Iznaola has written. I only wish I could get some lessons with him.

Mel Bay, however, gets 0 stars for their editorial work. There are numerous typos in the section on Right Hand Framing; I've verified 3 with the author. I'm particularly harsh with Mel Bay here because I actually purchased this product using a coupon they gave me for reporting typos in another product of theirs. They desperately need to improve their editorial process.

Good for Advanced player and Teacher

This book explains physiology of Classical Guitar playing with medical background so it's very revealing for any serious CG guitar player. The description of human anatomy needs some effort to understand, the medical nomenclature was very difficult for those who never have a biology background.

The 'technical' imperfection on this book is in nail photo (Photo 1-2) on p.55. Ricardo's nail captured out of focus, so it's difficult to see the explanation given by that photo. Other thing was fine.

I thought it's good for advanced player and teacher but not for beginner.

This book definitely met my expectations. The book is clearly written and has excellent visuals to further explain the poses. The book also
explains the benefits of each pose. The first chapter explains what DAHN YOGA is and how it is similar and different to other forms of mind
body- training. As stated on the back of the book that DAHN YOGA BASICS helps you: develop a fit and flexible body, boost your energy and
vitality, quiet your mind and improve concentration as well as cultivate a feeling of well-being. I fully agree with the previous points.

Kindle edition has problems on my Kindle Fire HDX

I am studying Dahn Yoga in a studio now - about a month in and really learning every time I attend class. I bought the Kindle edition, hoping that it would give me more background. Unfortunately, many of the charts are tiny - and they can't be expanded on the Kindle Fire screen. The charts are what I really wanted to see! They remain thumbnail size, way too small to read. The pictures of people doing poses are fine, however. Some sentences end suddenly - and one page ran off the bottom - so some formatting & editing is very much needed. I really hope to see a new edition w/these problems fixed!

I enjoyed this introduction to yoga. I've taken some classes at the Sedona Meditation Center and some of these exercises were in the book. I've tried these exercises and they're good.

With more than 300 dazzling photographs, this book offers an international look at Carnival in New Orleans and Basile, Louisiana; Laza, Spain; rural Bulgaria; Venice, Italy; Basel, Switzerland; Tlaxcala, Mexico; Oruro, Bolivia; Recife and Olinda, Brazil; Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago; and Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

Carnival takes similar shapes everywhere European Catholics carried their religion and its festivals. People disguise or adorn themselves in costumes and masks to parade through the streets, eating, drinking, and making music before the Lenten fast begins on Ash Wednesday. But as this book shows, indigenous customs with even deeper roots--and, in many places, customs that accompanied enslaved Africans in their diaspora--became integrated into the festival to give it distinctive local flavors.

In the four rural sites (Laza, southeastern Bulgaria, Basile, and Tlaxcala) many festival rituals are meant to promote the fertility of crops, livestock, and people. In the urban Carnivals of Oruro, Recife and Olinda, Port of Spain, Port-au-Prince, and New Orleans, Carnival groups compete through ingenious masquerades and spectacular performances. Venice's Carnival--a late-twentieth-century revival--is modeled on elite urban celebrations of the Renaissance, and Basel's--one of very few Carnivals to survive among European Protestants after the Reformation--involves large, organized troupes who wear masquerades portraying themes of social and political satire. In Haiti, Mardi Gras celebrations are deeply politicized and have even played a role in overturning governments.

The contributors to this book take readers on a colorful journey through Carnival in these eleven far-flung places, outlining the history of Carnival in each area and its present form. The major masquerades are introduced--from Venice's classic Harlequin and Pierrot to Bulgaria's "Kouker" and Port of Spain's "Midnight Robber"--along with the kinds of groups who participate, such as Recife and Olinda's African "nations" and Tlaxcala's charro dancers. The sequence of Carnival events in each location is described, from excited preparation to last-gasp revelry, with tastes of festival food and drink and the rhythm of music along the way.

Whatever deeper religious or civic significance Carnival may hold for its participants, it is always a time of play, conviviality, and fantasy--a time when alternatives to the status quo can be imagined and people can feel unleashed from everyday restraints. This book is a joyous celebration of this many-faceted festival and a tribute to those who have kept their Carnival traditions alive.

Barbara Mauldin is curator of Latin American folk art at the Museum of International Folk Art in Santa Fe, New Mexico. This book is fantastic! It covers Carnival celebrations from all over the world. The history is detailed but not dull, and the pictures are vibrant and lively. I recommend this book to anyone that has been to (or wants to attend) a Carnival celebration and anyone that is interested in the stories/histories of the celebrations.

Great book

The coverage of this book is excellent, and the text is enlightening, entertaining, and well researched. Some of the photos are superb, but I subtracted one star, because other photos are mediocre or worse. More attention should have been paid to the quality of the visual presentation, given that carnival celebrations are a highly visual phenomenon. I also have to question why the title is not English, given that the text is English. This undoubtedly hurt book sales in the United States and just makes no sense, given that carnival is celebrated in almost every country with a strong Catholic population (and some without). It is as much a German, French, Dutch, Flemish, Swiss, and Italian festival as it is Spanish and Portuguese. Nevertheless, the book is very good and, to my knowledge, the best to date on the pre-Lenten celebration.

Immediately after receiving this "document" I wrote an email complaint to Amazon and asked for a refund of my money. This email was never answered by Amazon!

What I said (this is the short version) alerted Amazon that this publication is not a book; it is nothing more than an undocumented 4 page pamphlet that fails to even reference the origins of what is printed in this pamphlet.

The internet has many references to the Ebionite history and beliefs that are lenghty and detailed. Far better than this pamphlet - and they are free! Earleen H
