About the Author
Kurt L. Kraus is an associate professor of counseling at Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania. His path there included teaching English and special education at the middle and secondary levels in central Maine. He went on to become a school counselor and continued his education at the University of Maine, where he earned his doctorate in 1996. Dr. Kraus's current clinical, teaching, and research interests include counseling children and adolescents, group work, and identity development.

The contributors have done a nice job

This edited book applies several developmental theories to the practice of counseling. Each chapter is written by a different author. The editor Kraus contributed only a six page introduction. Very interesting chapters on Vygotsky, Kegan, and Erikson are included. The main limitation, I'd say, is that over half of the book is on the application of variations of racial identity development theories. These are interesting, but, in my opinion, limit the text's use as a course text given the imbalanced scope of coverage.

Lenses- lots of theories

This book was required for my human development class. There are a lot of different theories explored here giving information about many perspectives and theories about why human beings behave in the ways that they do. It is very informational but also provides real life examples and case studies.

The book is well organized and the content is engaging. Part way through using the book the pages started to fall out, due to a poor binding. The return time passed and I would be hesitant to purchase such a costly book online again.
